Postcard from Mexico City

Este inicio de semana les presento esta  foto que tomé al Palacio de Bellas Artes (declarado monumento artístico por la UNESCO en 1987) durante un paseo en turibus en la Ciudad de México. La verdad, el turibus me parece siempre una gran opción para reconocer una ciudad, sea la que sea incluso si se vive en ella, para así conocer datos interesantes y curiosos de sus monumentos que la gran mayoría desconocemos.

Por ejemplo, en el caso de este edificio Art Decó ubicado en el Centro Histórico de esa gran ciudad, en la puerta derecha de la fachada principal se encuentra "inmortalizada" la perrita llamada Aida, del arquitecto italiano a cargo de la obra Adamo Boari. Además, el escenario cuenta con el único telón antifuego en un teatro de ópera en el mundo, con las imágenes de los volcanes mexicanos Popocatépetl e Iztaccíhuatl, el cual fue trabajado en la Casa Tiffany de Nueva York. ¿Lo sabían? 

Por cierto, si están planeando sus vacaciones de verano, la Ciudad de México es siempre una gran opción. Les mando pues esta postal para su consideración.

To start this week I present you this picture I took of the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts, artistic monument by UNESCO in 1987) during a ride on turibus in Mexico City. I think the turibus is always a great option to recognize a city, whatever it may be even if you live in it, in order to know interesting and curious facts around monuments that most of us doesn't know.

For example, in the case of this Art Deco building located in the historic center of this great city, on the right door of the main facade is "immortalized" the dog named Aida, belonging to the Italian architect in charge of the work Adamo Boari. Furthermore, the scenario has the only fireproof curtain in a theater of opera in the world, with images of the Mexican volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, which was worked in the House Tiffany of New York. Did you know?

By the way, if you are planning your summer vacation, Mexico City is always a great option. I send you this postcard for your consideration.
